Something odd on NKF

I understand from someone that today's Berita Harian covers a NKF story that 125 staff had left NKF including 27 who resigned after KPMG revealed THAT report. BH also reported that resignations did not affect the operations of the charity as they were mostly administrative staff.

I know BH was trying to reassure people that it is business as usual at NKF despite the spate of resignations but I personally find it creepy that the departure of 125 staff are not missed at all even if all of them are in administrative positions. Are we saying that the organisation was that bloated and 125 staff weren't needed in the first place? Holy macaroni. NFK had a lot of fat indeed.

I heard that NKF staff enjoys up to 6 months year end bonus too. But I am not certain on the reliability of the source.

A pity you missed the charity show by Ren Ci Hospital. The donation collected was miserable initially. The head of Ren Ci who is a Monk actually came forth to demo a 2-wooden-boards-walk stunt between two tall buildings. However, due to bad to bad weather, his stunt was stopped halfway. I don't recall Durai doing any of these act.

Anyway, the turning point begun when the monk broke down while urging the public to donate. He feels that the patient should not be punished for the misdeed of Durai.

His stunt act I suppose is an attempt to restore the trust or faith lost.

I read somewhere that the Ren Ci Charity got S$6.8 million which exceeded the S$5 million target. Didn't know that he planned to do a stunt walk between the two tall buildings and broke down in tears in the middle. I initially thought that "Wow. It is cool that the monk could still attract so much contributions in the post NKF era". Didn't know that the going was slow till he cried. Oh dear, not a good sign since the Ren Ci monk was supposed to be all popular with the masses. If he has difficulties, imagine the new NKF's charity drive next year.

I kinda respected him. Even before the NKF blow-up, he would always do something during the charity show.

But, Foong Woei Wan from "Life" said otherwise. She said she felt manipulated. The headlines "Heoric feat or emotional manipulation?"

I felt quite disturbed. hmmm... maybe I should blog about this.

Will try to find this article in "Life". Can't really blame this woman'S thinking really. Crying on national TV does seem a bit of an emotional manipulation. I guess the key is intention - whether the monk did it on purpose. Bleah.

The headlines and the article don't quite link. She feels that dangerous stunts are not needed- she feels that endangering a person's life shouln't be the way to raise funds. Then, there are other contributions from other journalist too.
